Sikhethimpilo partners with various schools which have AIDS action clubs. The clubs are meant to educate young people about HIV/AIDS and related issues. During the fourth quarter of the year an HIV/AIDS quiz competition is hosted by Sikhethimpilo for primary and secondary schools as a way of checking and enhancing knowledge levels of young people on issues to do with HIV and AIDS.
These are meant to promote youth empowerment in the different wards that we operate in. Topics like entrepreneurship are taught when having meeting of youth alive clubs. We have realised that most youths are driven into the mining world where they are exposed to drug abuse and theft.
Through youth alive clubs they will help them realise their potential and later on be able to fend for themselves and their families.
It is a sports tournament that is held every year, and is sponsored by Sikhethimpilo for the purpose of teaching about HIV and AIDS we want to spread the word that people should know their status. This tournament brings people from all over together to learn and fight against HIV and AIDS through sports. Testing and counselling is done during the tournament in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Child Care.
With assistance from peer educators we have also managed to do COVID 19 awareness campaign in place of this tournament since this virus is scooping the whole world and has made it impossible for us to have the HIV sports tournament. Facilitators were invited from the Ministry of health to teach our peer educators on the virus and they further distributed Information, Education and communication material to the communities at large.
